Netflix cancels The Get Down

There will be no season 2.

Netflix has cancelled Baz Luhrmann’s musical drama The Get Down. This is on of the the first Netflix original series not to get a second season.

Baz Luhrmann published a statement on Facebook regarding the news. He indicated that the main reason was that Luhrmann wasn’t able to continue full-time on the show for a second season.

The main reason for cancellation seems expenses and production budget. The budget of twelve episodes in first season was $120 million, which means $10 million per episode. By having this budget, that made the series one of the most expensive TV shows ever produced.

Dear fans of The Get Down,I wanted to speak to you with an open heart and just acknowledge how humbled and moved that…
